Auckland Grey Power Aims

To advance, support and protect the welfare and well being of older people.
To affirm and protect that statutory right of every New Zealand resident, to a sufficient New Zealand Superannuation entitlement.
To strive for a provision of a quality Health Care to all New Zealand residents regardless of income and location.
To oppose all discriminatory and disadvantageous legislation affecting rights, security and dignity.
To be non aligned with any political party, and to present a strong united lobby to all Parliament and statutory Bodies on matters affecting New Zealanders.
To promote and establish links with kindred organizations.
To promote recognition of the wide-ranging services provided by senior citizens of New Zealand.
To gain recognition as an appropriate voice for all older New Zealanders.

Auckland beginnings

First started as the Auckland Superannuitants Association, Grey Power is a voluntary organization founded in February 1986 by a group of superannuitants protesting against the imposition of a surcharge on New Zealand Superannuation. Grey Power is now a federation of associations from across New Zealand.

Nationwide

The individual Grey Power Associations are all duly Incorporated Societies under their own right and together they form the Grey Power New Zealand Federation Inc: the National body of some 74 Associations throughout the country with a combined membership fluctuating up to 90,000 members.

Our work

While the original reason for forming the movement was the opposition to the surcharge on New Zealand Superannuation, Grey Power now works in all matters pertaining to NZ Superannuation, as well as in the areas of Aged Care, Energy and many more. These areas of importance are allotted to Board subcommittees as National Advisory Groups.
